ROOTED
Six Weeks to Rediscover the Magick of Where You Are
The practice of noticing, connection and everyday enchantment.
The places around you haven't lost their magick.
You may just have stopped noticing it.
What if the place you live is already talking to you?
The tree you always look towards. The path that draws you for no obvious reason. The corner of town that feels different at dusk. The old wall, overlooked lane or patch of green that carries a memory you cannot quite explain.
ROOTED is a six-week journey into a richer relationship with the places already around you.
Through attention, curiosity, story, intuition and return, you will begin to see your everyday surroundings with fresher eyes, uncover the layers hidden beneath familiar places and create your own map of what matters.

What could change in 6-weeks
Rediscover details, beauty and intrigue that familiarity had made invisible
01
Recognise the places, symbols and recurring threads that naturally draw your attention
02
Uncover memories, folklore, histories and hidden stories within ordinary places
03
Become more confident in noticing atmosphere, intuition and your body's response to place
04
Create a personal Map of Meaning, showing the landscape as you actually experience it
05
Develop a simple, lasting place practice that helps you feel more connected, rooted and at home in the world around you
06
Your surroundings become more detailed, storied and alive. The world feels less like scenery and more like somewhere you belong.
The ROOTED journey

Re-enchant the Familiar
There is always more here than I have noticed.
We begin by bringing the everyday world back into focus. You'll explore familiar routes and ordinary places with renewed attention, discovering what has been present all along, waiting to be seen.
The shift: Your surroundings begin to feel more interesting, vivid and alive.
Become more ROOTED in the world around you.
How the 6-weeks will work
ROOTED is being offered as a small group with room for curiosity, conversation and shared discovery.
Each week includes:
-
An online gathering introducing the week's theme
-
Simple, flexible practices to explore between sessions
-
Opportunities to share what you have noticed, uncovered or questioned
-
Prompts involving attention, walking, memory, sensory noticing, story, chance and mapping
The practices are designed to fit into ordinary life and ordinary surroundings. A local street, garden, window view, churchyard, footpath, park, bench or single tree can hold everything you need.
ROOTED at a glance:
Start date: Tuesday 15th September
Live gatherings: Every Tuesday, for 6-weeks, at 8pm UK time, via Zoom
Session length: 75 minutes
Recordings: The teaching portion of each gathering will be recorded and available if you cannot attend live. Personal group conversations will not be recorded.
Between sessions: Allow approximately 30–45 minutes each week for your place practice. This can be divided into smaller moments and woven into everyday life.
Group size: Limited to a maximum of ten participants, keeping the experience personal, spacious and supportive.
Location: You can join from anywhere in the world. All gathering times are shown in UK time, and the practices take place wherever you live.

Join Rooted
The Exchange
I am trying something a little different for this first ROOTED group.
Your place in the six-week programme is exchanged for one book purchased from my Amazon wishlist.
You receive six weeks of guided exploration and shared practice. I receive another book to support the research, thinking and creative work from which ROOTED continues to grow.
Magick is not always somewhere else. Sometimes it's waiting at the end of your street.
Frequently asked questions
Nature may be part of what you notice, but ROOTED embraces the full texture of place: streets, buildings, paths, boundaries, graffiti, gardens, weather, memory, history, human traces and more-than-human life.
No. ROOTED begins with the radical possibility that ordinary and overlooked places become meaningful through attention and relationship. Your immediate surroundings are enough.
ROOTED includes enchantment, intuition, synchronicity and spirit of place as open, reflective lenses. There is no required belief system and nobody will tell you what a place is supposed to mean. You will be invited to notice what happens in your own encounter with it.
No artistic skill is required. You may photograph, sketch, write or map what you discover, but these are ways of paying attention rather than tests of artistic ability.
The emphasis is on encountering and returning, rather than distance. Practices can be adapted to a garden, street, building, window view, bench or another accessible place close to you.
There will be one online gathering each week and short practices you can weave into daily life. The course is intended to deepen your experience of the life you already have, without becoming another demanding obligation.
Once your place is confirmed, you'll receive the link to Rebecca's Amazon wishlist and choose one book to purchase in exchange for the six-week programme.
